Built specifically for trade professionals, STANLEY® has introduced a new heavy-duty STANLEY FATMAX® Retractable Blade Knife, which has been engineered for ultimate precision, durability and on-site productivity.
Whether cutting items such as vinyl, carpet, plastic, drywall and insulation, opening up packaging, or scoring, marking or scraping away excess material, every feature of the knife has been crafted to deliver accurate, reliable performance in a multitude of trade environments.
At the core of the design is a tool-free blade change mechanism integrated directly into the slider – reducing downtime and keeping users working efficiently, without the hassle of disassembling the tool. Blades can be rapidly swapped in under 20 seconds.
The knife’s pin-hinged body ensures the housing stays intact, offering a more intuitive and robust experience than traditional models. A spring-loaded body reveals a magnetised internal blade storage compartment holding up to 10 blades on board the tool, meaning sharp replacements are always within reach.
For demanding tasks, a rear handle flare provides a firm grip to reduce hand slippage during challenging applications, while precision grip zones enable control for both detailed trimming and prolonged, high-pressure cuts.
Constructed for professional applications, the knife’s well-balanced and proportioned linear design maximises blade contact with the workpiece, ensuring optimum accuracy and less material wastage – and makes it ideal for use over long periods and in all weather conditions. The hardened steel slide-mechanism blade holder delivers long-term durability for daily site use.

The STANLEY FATMAX Retractable Blade Knife is compatible with all STANLEY blades including the STANLEY FATMAX Induction Hardened Blade, STANLEY 1996 Large Hook Blade and STANLEY FATMAX Carbide Sintered Blade range.
